Google Punishing Non-Mobile Websites

Google Mobile Friendly ToolIn a few days, on April 21, Google is rolling out a new ranking algorithm for it’s Search Engine Results pages.

From Google:

Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.

Canadian Government Introduces Anti-Spam Legislation

Over the years the amount of spam sent to our inboxes on a daily basis has grown tenfold. Doing business in a landscape dominated by computers and technology has made the proliferation of spam with malicious intent a reality. Spammers use spyware, malware and phishing to do various forms of damage to the end user. Spyware collects personal information from the users computer and modifies the users computer without their consent. Malware introduces various security threats like viruses and Trojan horses that render computers inoperable. Lastly, Phishing involves impersonating someone who is trusted and in a place of power for the purpose of stealing important and private information.

All of these threats make the online landscape a scary place. Whether it be surfing online, purchasing goods, sending and receiving email or downloading software, we’re all at risk.

In order to limit the amount of spam generated and sent out on a daily basis, the Canadian Government has instituted these stricter and safer policies to ensure that you receive only the emails you’ve opted in for.

The new legislation states:

Legitimate businesses that use email to market their products to Canadians should not be negatively impacted by this law. The regime to allow for email marketing is based on a consumer opt-in approach, which stipulates that businesses must get consent prior to sending commercial email or have a pre-existing business relationship with a consumer.
